GOD Saw
God at the Outside In Festival, Crawley. There were several stages there,
and I had been watching John Zorns Slan,
(extreme thrash jazz), and was on my way to see God in another hall. They
had been playing for about 10 minutes. As I was walking down the corridor
towards the entrance, I was met by a crowd of people rushing out of the
door, with horrified faces. "Don't go in there , mate!" one of them said
as he hurried past. Inside, the few people who were left were sitting bolt
upright in their chairs, with expressions like frightened rabbits. On stage
were 5 guys playing their instruments as fast and as loudly as possible.
Most of them were all but drowned out by the ear splitting feedback coming
from the guitarist. It made Slan sound like Max Bygraves or something.
They kept it up for about 30 minutes, then the others stopped, but the
guitarist kept on going. Relief finally came when one of the other
musicians pulled his lead out.
