  9. HOW DID YOU FIRST DISCOVER CAPTAIN BEEFHEART & THE MAGIC BAND,
AND  WAS THERE A PARTICULAR SONG THAT MADE YOU SEE THE LIGHT?:
I first heard the Captain at 18 when a friend moved away for a while and met some music heads with influences beyond the small town that we lived in at the time.  He came back enthusing rabidly about Captain Beefheart and The Magic Band and I instantly fell for Safe As Milk.  My friend Goonie and I would go for long drives around the tranquil countryside in his battered blue mini listening to it at head splitting volume, loving every minute of it.
It took a while before I could enjoy Trout Mask Replica, however.  At first I absolutely detested the thing.  Every time one of my Beefheart fan friends forced me to listen to it I would have to leave or just moan
so badly that they would have to take it off.  The album only clicked with me when I moved to Brighton when I was 21.  Nobody in Brighton that I knew at that time liked Beefheart, so no-one was forcing me to hear TMR any more.  It wasn't long before I found myself actually missing it.
I bought it and was finally done for.

13. MUSICAL ABILITY / TRAINING:
I can whistle OK but other than that musical ability only extends to enjoying a fine tune, I'm afraid.  I tried to learn guitar for several years, but the whole thing was a mystery to me.
I've recently dabbled in manacling some samples together on my computer which was fairly pleasing.
It would be nice to have the time to produce more.

Ummm...  I'm lucky enough to live with my girlfriend Ness and our young son Reuben, I'm a dedicated vegetarian (lapsed vegan), interested in politics, society, current affairs and art.  Music has always been my
main passion, however, and the Internet is a wonderful way to share this enthusiasm.
