9. HOW DID YOU FIRST DISCOVER CAPTAIN BEEFHEART & THE MAGIC
BAND,
AND WAS THERE A PARTICULAR SONG THAT MADE YOU SEE THE LIGHT?:
I first heard Abba Zaba on "Top 40" radio in the mid-60's. FM
radio played Lick My Decals Off
in it's entirety when it was first released. However, it wasn't
'till I moved to a small town
in Michigan with my parents that I became fully enthused. Looking
at the Radar Station web site
reminded me that it was probably through reading Lester Bangs in Creem
magazine...
but one afternoon I hunted down a copy of Trout Mask in nearby Kalamazoo,
and listening to Frownlandfor the first time after I got it home...that
was the moment!

14. ANY OTHER INFO YOU WISH TO ADD?:
Not only does Captain Beefheart's work have it's own value, but looking
at, listening to,
and reading about his art and music has led me to many other artist's
and musicians,
and my greatest fun is still discovering anything new that excites
me.
