inspired by a mixture of beefheart, zappa, pere ubu, the fall and phil ochs and much else besides, I joined in 1985 the wild and fantastic shrubs as their singer and wordsmith and we released 2 studio albums and another album’s worth of singles and mini-albums; we split up amicably 5 years later because of babies; one of the albums at least – Take Me Aside For A Midnight Harangue – is a lost classic; none of the shrubs recordings has been released on CD (something I intend to do but god knows when); the second and last album Vessels Of The Heart is available on vinyl from me as is one of the 12”s – Another Age

then I formed a less angular alt-rock band called mecca and we released two intense but quite ignored studio albums and then we split up amicably because of babies; both the mecca albums are available on CD from me; I think they’re very good and unusual records

then I formed a semi-improvising voice & electronics band called infidel, and sadly we’ve yet to release the approximately 2 albums worth of remarkable material – all in a very slow pipeline

then as galen sadko I made a record of wracked songs with angel sadko – In Our Bedroom – which is just out and is available from me

and then as nikolai galen I’ve just finished a solo improvised voice record – Emanuel Vigeland – which will be released in February and which I’m very happy with; it’s naked and doesn’t sound much like anything else I’ve heard
