9. HOW DID YOU FIRST DISCOVER CAPTAIN BEEFHEART & THE MAGIC BAND,
AND WAS THERE A PARTICULAR SONG THAT MADE YOU SEE THE LIGHT?:
Heard him singing "Willie the Pimp," and had to figure out if this guy was really a sea captain, or one of Zappa's L.A. freaks, or what.  As the years passed and my tastes developed, I realized that the Captain's music was so much more passionate, interesting, unironic and sincere than most anything else -- so it was more of a gradual appreciation than "love at first sight."
