| Demo Archive Submission Suggestions | THE UK QUAKE NEWS PAGE |
These are not orders. I might add your demo even if you don't follow them. However, these are guidelines on creating a more interesting demo and getting a better review in the Archive.
- Don't zip files including unzip paths or submit unzipped .dem files.
- Try to avoid making WinQuake only demos. That means that even if you are recording with WinQuake, use 8 character filenames and try to test the dmeo with normal Quake.
- Try to record demos against people, not bots. I realise that's sometimes difficult, but demos recorded against people are more interesting, exciting and varied.
- If you're recording a demo against a bot, try to do something different. Perhaps set the bots to play as a team, or use a different bot, like the Oakbot or the soon-to-be-released Raven Bot.
- Make sure your demo is unique. Play on an unusual level, like DM1 or E*M*, or record a team demo or a large deathmatch. How about a Capture The Flag demo? Demos recorded on non-standard levels are always good, too.
Follow these guidelines and you're guaranteed a better review, and more impressed viewers.
