ALTAN - The Best Of Altan (Green Linnet Records GLCD 1177)
For those of you unaware, Altan have become the main ambassadors of traditional Irish songs and tunes. This reflective selection (including the bonus 'live' cd of the band's involvement with Green Linnet is a testament to the constant excellence in which they present their material. Duelling fiddles, flute, accordion and various string instruments coupled with Mairead Ni Mhaonaigh's ethereal vocals show an assured quality in which others must follow. Sadly, Frankie Kennedy is no longer with us but his music lives on in this compilation. Sit back and enjoy!
