BOHINTA - Sessions (Aarde Records AMCD001)
Brother and sister Martin & Aine Furey (Bohinta) have produced a fine album retracing five years in the studio. The stark beauty lies in their arrangements allowing their guest musicians (includinq Stockton's Wing's Maurice Lennon among them) room to breath. This exercise is ably demonstrated where the unexpected instrumental texture of Rachael Fletcher's oboe works so well complementing Aine's vocal perfectly. It may have been five years in the making - but well worth the wait. By the way, on the track 'Heaven' do I hear overtones of Dave Cousins creeping in?
