All WAV files are mono, 11khz, 8bit.
I suggest this is your best bet for hearing what is available on the PDCS label (there is now a second ZIP file available, see below). This compressed file (1500kb) contains three WAV files, each about one minute long. As a guide, it took me about eight minutes to download the file at 28800. For information about the tracks included, please read the details below about the individual WAV files.
"The Card Song" (trad) with Oliver singing and playing fiddle, and Charlie Gask on bodhran. This extract from the track lasts for 67 seconds.
Garry's demo is edited from a medley of tunes on his CD, it includes part of the traditional "Banks of Ireland" and part of "Blakeley's", a tune written for Garry by Barry Dransfield. This track is the only one from the CD where Garry is playing fiddle with no accompaniment. This extract from the track lasts for 67 seconds. This is a good example of what Dirty Linen magazine called "Garry Blakeley's excellent, fiery fiddling". The full CD track containing four tunes is five minutes long, and, would you believe, was recorded in a single take after one run through for recording levels!
Pete Fyfe and Garry Blakeley play the song, "Step It Out Mary" (S. McCarthy). This track has Pete singing and playing guitar and Garry adding harmony and playing fiddle. This extract from the track lasts for 52 seconds.
This is another selection of WAV files contained within a single compressed file (1690kb). Each is about one and a quarter minutes long. As a guide, it took me about ten minutes to download the file at 28800. Unfortunately, we don't currently have sufficient space on the server to hold these WAV files individually. The samples are as follows:
Oliver (vocals and fiddle) is joined on this traditional song by his former partner, Ben Dauncey who plays melodeon and is another BBC Young Tradition Award Finalist.
Garry (vocals, fiddle and guitar) has made a medley of the traditional song and his own tune. Charlie Gask provides bodhran accompaniment.
This extract starts half way through Garry Blakeley's fiddle version of Vivaldi's Winter from The Four Seasons. He is joined by Pete Fyfe on guitar as they launch into the tune Julia Delaney.
The Tabs have not released anything on the PDCS label. However, as Garry Blakeley is their fiddle player, I have persuaded them to let me include an extract from an album that they are currently recording. This is part of a track called "Bill Hart's Jig". Note that this is not in either of the ZIP files.
