Drumpellier Country Park

ASTRA events held at Drumpellier Country Park are under taken in co-operation with the Drumpellier Ranger Service, which is part of the North Lanarkshire Council Rangers Service.

All joint events are usually held in, or start at, the Visitor Centre,

Car parking available at the Visitor Centre, as are refreshments for events held during the day.

Rocket Workshops

Rocket Workshops usually start at about 1 pm at the Visitor Centre. These workshops allow children, (from an age of 5 upwards), to build Aquajet rockets and fly them.

Aquajet rockets are built from plastic soft drink bottles and powered by water and compressed air. If attending, to build Aquajets, it could be useful if you could bring along a SMALL number of plastic soft drinks bottles. The 1.5 litre size are the most suitable for building Aquajets.

The first activity involves an Aquajet building workshop, which is followed by a flying session. The location of the flying sessions is usually across the main road from the Visitor Centre. However the flying sessions are subject to a change of location - so it is a good idea to bring suitable footwear in the event that wet ground MAY have to be crossed.

For further details of Rocket Workshops please contact Danny Kane, (tel: 01236 830610), or Nick Portwin (tel: 01236 434825 or email portwin@easynet.co.uk)

Meteor Watch

Meteor Watches are held at the Visitor Centre within the park. Normally the watches are held within the centre itself, however occasionally the watches do move to other parts of the park - should this be the case visitors should still go to the Visitors centre in the first instance.

Meteor Watches usually last between 2 to 3 hours - the actual start times change during the year depending on the time of Sunset.

For further details of Meteor Watches please contact Danny Kane, (tel: 01236 830610), or Nick Portwin (tel: 01236 434825 or email portwin@easynet.co.uk)
