History
Katerina Apriori,
or Kat as she prefers, is a true Romany gypsy. She has, she insists,
"led a pretty dull life up till now." Kidnapped at 12 and sold into
slavery, she was rescued by smugglers whose Captain taught her to
read and write in three languages, later taking her for his mistress
for four years before being assasinated in the night by a
superstitious crewman who blamed the recent lull in racketeering to
the presence of a female on board.
Having jumped ship, she spent a year working as a barmaid, until narrowly escaping gang rape by the intervention of a mysterious red-headed Erin youth who fought like a dervish and then vanished as swiftly as he appeared, and for whom Kat has searched ever since to explain her gratitude for his chivalry.
During her search Kat met and was trained for six years in the Art of the Incantor by the elf Apldr. She has since been travelling through Europe, hiring out her services where ever work has been available. She says her life has been pretty ordinary really, "just getting by doing a bit of this and a bit of that."
She met Leah early in 1097 on the road and cemented the relationship when set upon by footpads by assisting in successfully dispatching the threat by judicious use of spells and well aimed kneecaps. Kat describes her recently acquired companions as "a very sweet girl I wouldn't want to meet in a dark alley," "an O.K. chap in an Elvish Presley sort of way, provided you remember to duck occasionally," and "an arrogant Irish twat with more testosterone than can be medically safe for any human being."
At last years Gathering, Kat had the dubious honour of being selected by Bacchus himself as the mother of his child, an event that was eagerly awaited by some, not the least by the priests of the Temple of Bacchus within whose hallowed walls she resided in during her pregnancy and who were "jolly glad to have the place back to normal" when she moved out.
