Ludovich Lindsay commanded a regiment for the Royalist cause. He was well travelled, fighting both in the South of England and in his native Scotland.
Lindsay did not have a distinguished military career: fleeing the battle of Alton before it had begun in 1643, and being captured at Philiphaugh in 1645.
Ludovich Lindsay resigned his title to John Lindsay, Earl of Lindsay.
