Part of Edinburgh's Royal Mile, guarded by a traffic warden. The pavements
are considerably narrower and the road wider than today, not nearly so
pedestrian-friendly. This part is between the Tron and St Giles. |

This is in the High Street near the World's End pub and the Museum of
Childhood, opposite John Knox's house. Originally a cinema, it was McGoo's in the 1960's
when I saw The Who perform there. |

I believe that's Drummond Street at the left, with part of the old city
wall. Worth looking at if only to see how different The Pleasance looks today. |

Another frankly unattractive picture. This spot has been much favoured by
Carlsberg drinkers over the years. In the background is the foot of Lauriston Place before
the current brick tenements and shops were erected. The back of Glen Street is visible. |

That giant car park is now Princes Square and the adjacent shiny new
financial buildings. There's a more complete edit of this negative - 1024 x 680 and 253K in size,
showing more foreground and more of the Caledonian Hotel. |

Included here mainly as a record of how it looked in 1979. My daughter and
son remained obligingly still whilst passers-by moved in blurs. |
