A time-exposure of a few seconds through a 350mm lens - on a sturdy tripod on a still night on top of Calton Hill. The old railway bridge over the bottom end of Leith Walk, next to Jane Street, is clearly visible.

Similar shot by day. The church at the corner of Pilrig Street is on the left and the railway bridge as at the right.
leith_ir0.jpg (220983 bytes) Leith IR 0

A personal favourite. Shot on Kodak Infra Red monochrome 35mm film. The island of Inchkeith stands out very clearly in infrared light.

This time I turned the camera slightly west and Kinghorn is visible over in Fife on the north side of the Firth of Forth.
quiet.jpg (73131 bytes) The Shore
800 x 745
71K
A rather different view to one I took recently on my Nikon Coolpix 900 digital camera:Oyster_Bar which was taken from the other side of the Water Of Leith - facing this side. I called the file 'quiet' when I first saved it - for obvious reasons.

I can't figure out where this is, but some of you Leithers might know. It might have been near the 'Banana Flats'.
dolphin.jpg (122764 bytes) Dolphin

This training? ship was parked down here for years I seem to remember...
leith-walk3.jpg (182043 bytes) Leith Walk 3

Pilrig Church is on the left. The old railway bridge over Leith Walk at Jane Street is at the top right of the picture.
leith-walk4.jpg (145564 bytes) Leith Walk 4
511 x 768
142K
The same negative as the shot above, this time showing more of the foreground. Taken from Calton Hill with 350mm lens.
