Pentlands

I can't remember taking this, but it looks like it was taken from a hill
somewhere behind Newtongrange. Bilston Glen colliery and Gilmerton Pit bing are both
visible. |

Auchendinny

The village near Milton Bridge near Penicuik. |

Crighton Castle
519 x 768
124K |
Not far from Pathhead on the A68 road south of Edinburgh. I think I
originally did a sepia-toned print of this, in which the castle stonework resembled a bar
of chocolate. |

Galashiels
665 x 768
123K |
The winter of 1978/9 has left its mark in the form of snow-drifts along
the dry-stone dykes on the hillside. |

Viaduct
1
800 x 600
66K |
There used to be a railway in the Borders and this disused viaduct
carried trains across the River Tweed between Earlston and Newtown St Boswells. |

Viaduct 2
800 x 600

This is how it looks closer up, near the back road to Melrose. |

Trees Snow

This line of trees beside the A701 created amazing shadows on the
immaculate white snow. Taken in the winter of 1978/9 with a 24mm lens.

Calmer Soutra

or 800 x 600

Soutra Hill on the A68 driving south towards Oxton. Same winter as the
previous picture. The morning sunshine is melting the snow. A calmer day, eh? If you

Leader
514 x 768

That's pronounced as in lead - the metal. I called this picture of trees
that because I vaguely remember it being beside the Leader Water, a tributary of the River
Tweed, I believe.
This was taken 20 years ago so those trees will have grown somewhat. I have another large
picture if anyone's interested. |
