Silver Birch. |

Maiden Castle

If you continue the walk all the way from Roslin you must climb the
glacial remnant known as the Maiden Castle. The tree roots here are helping to keep the
sandy ridge intact. To the right, the ground drops steeply to the River North Esk. On the
left, there's a similar steep slope down to the Bilston Burn. |
