Role Call.

The NAPALM team are based around the Dartford area. Over the last five series of Robot Wars we have entered four different 'bots. The first, DETONATOR was used in series 1. It made it through to the second round but did not last long after it was discovered that the batteries had not been inserted. There was a return engagement from DETONATOR in an episode in series 4. More of a special realy, it was the War Of Independance.

NAPALM, the second 'bot won it's episode in series 2, but went out in round 2 of the semi-final episode. It came back fighting in a Grudge Match against MORTIS but went down a pit before the end. NAPALM returned for series 3 and managed to fight it's way into the episode final but went out to STEG' after an exciting battle.

For series 4, a new 'bot was constructed - SHADOW OF NAPALM. This 'bot just didn't meet the spec's set out. We had difficulties with the body shell as it continued to rub on the wheels. Without the shell, S.O.N ran very well, but it wouldn't have been much good in a fight.

As for series 5. It looked like it would be a return for NAPALM. It has been rebuilt from all of the smashed up parts from series 3. A new drive system is under development and the back mandibles are to be replaced with a more formidable device. A lifting device for the front of NAPALM has been designed and built but has not yet been fitted.

So much for plans!!!

I wont say too much about what went on in Series 5, or in deed the Extreme, suffice to say that at one point there were 2 Napalms turning up to do various events??????

It would also seem like a good opportunity to introduce new bucaneer, Michelle. She joined the team during Extreme once it became impossible for Clare to return. Clare was off to Africa on a World Challenge Expedition.

The team for Series 5 is as follows: David, Vikki and Michelle.

Napalm 2 is at present going through some major reconstruction so that it can be transported more easily to and from various exhibitions and events.

Napalm 3 (N3) is being developed for series 6, along with a complete change of image for the team. Everyone has moved on since RW began. I am now heading Technology at the Dover Grammar School for Boys, Vikki is sitting A levels, Clare is globe trotting and Michelle is with the Bank of Scotland. The new image is somewhat radical, a little retro, and hopefuly interesting. We want to move away from T-Shirts n badges towards a complete ensamble.
