The obvious thing to do when you can't sing is don't. It took me a while to figure this out. Once I did, I returned to one of my early interests, so called "electronic" music. For me, this encompasses everything from Tangerine Dream through to Brian Eno, to Bill Nelson, and even some ECM artists like John Surman. It also helps that the instruments often have lots of knobs and flashing lights.
