Good news from the United Kingdom Tourism Survey: holiday trips taken by UK residents in England in the first four months of 2009 are up by 13%. That represents 1.2 million more holiday trips and over 5 million extra nights’ holiday taken than in the same period of 2008.

This year the great English pub won the Outstanding Contribution to Tourism Award at the Enjoy England Awards for Excellence, reflecting the important role they play in this country. Enjoy England’s new website Inn England recognises and celebrates one of the country’s most important national treasures.

There are countless events, attractions and exhibitions to visit throughout England this August bank holiday. The Enjoy England website www.enjoyengland.com/bankholiday and the Bank Holiday fun section of the National Trust website feature just a few of them.
