The Environmental Foundation for Africa is working for the restoration and rehabilitation of degraded land. Its main focus for the present is the West Africa subregion. Today EFA has programs in Sierra Leone and Liberia and is planning to set up a program in Guinea.

EFA aims to make the country programs self-sufficient and function as local NGOs under the "umbrella" of EFA. EFA's main role will then be to support, supervise and seek funding for its local partners.
The Sierra Leone Program started off as a separate program under the name ENFOSAL – Environmental Foundation of Sierra Leone. ENFOSAL has been working as a local NGO, since January 1996.
The Liberia Program is today managed by EFA and will, in time, be managed by a local set-up.

EFA was founded in the United Kingdom in May 1995 as an international NGO and is registered with the Charity Commission of England and Wales (Reg No: 1057788).

EFA acknowledges the funders and sponsors, both present and past, for making the work for the environment possible.
