Campaign for environmental awareness, education and positive action in Liberia

Since June 1998, EFA has been conducting a mobile environmental awareness and education program in Monrovia and environs and in Nimba County. Apart from raising awareness about environmental problems, the program is seeking to motivate and empower communities to develop an income-generating base through developing local industry, micro-agricultural and agroforestry schemes that help to conserve the natural environment.

EFA has also been conducting training at village community level to set up tree nurseries and establish woodlots for fuelwood harvesting and charcoal production, Approximately 40,000 trees of various species are expected to be transplanted this year.

Since May 1999, the program cycle has been prolonged for another year, also, funded by NC-IUCN/Tropical Rainforest Program.
