EuroPolls: Legal Notice

EuroPolls has firstly been produced for the MA Online Journalism assessment of Graham Jarvis, hereby known as the Editor. There are two versions: the online version is, insofar as liabilities are concerned, completely independent from The Nottingham Trent University; while the offline version will be assessed as part of the Editor's academic study. The second purpose of EuroPolls is to encourage debate on European issues.

Yet no advertising will appear on the site, unless this explicitly forms part of the site's concept and its journalism. No offers of money for advertising will be accepted, unless EuroPolls is moved to a commercial site. The domain name europolls.co.uk is registered by the Editor for the future development of the site. At the present time, in compliance with the rules set out by Easynet, this site can only produce non-profit and therefore non-commercial material.

Members of the public are welcome to submit articles or letters to the Editor. Editorial rights of editing and publication are retained by EuroPolls. All submitted material for the online version of EuroPolls must be written in a professional manner and be "fair, accurate and contemporaneous." Submitted articles and material should not breach the United Kingdom's Defamation Acts (1952 and 1996) and the copyrights of the original authors (Copyright Act 1988).

Libellous material will not be published. Copyrights of the material produced on EuroPolls - whether photographic, text or audio-visual- remains the property of the author, photographer or relevant organisation. Furthermore, EuroPolls is not responsible for the content and opinions expressed by external material hyperlinked by EuroPolls.

Therefore, if any individual(s) or organisation(s) wish to copy any part of EuroPolls, a request must first be made in writing to the copyright holder of the material required by the applicant. All copyright notices, or notices concerning intellectual rights, must be retained with the original material. All other laws affecting the practice of journalism must be adhered to, with respect to material published by EuroPolls. Every care has been made to ensure the accuracy of the work published and 'broadcast' on EuroPolls.

EuroPolls is not liable for any direct or indirect or consequential loss of material on this Web site. EuroPolls is also not responsible for the material contained on external Web sites, outside of EuroPolls editorial control, connected to EuroPolls by "Web links." No part of this Web site can be reproduced without a written application. Names and addresses kept as part of verifying the opinion poll will be kept on a database, but not passed on to a third party without the "subscriber's" expressed permission, in accordance with the United Kingdom's Data Protection Acts. Such material can be obtained by the relevant subscriber further to a letter requesting access. The personal data is for a non-commercial purpose.
