1998
"The Break In" (summer 1998)
Low budget short film shot in Nottingham, I saw both sides of the camera, working as a Rigger/Grip, Stand-in & body double.
"An Evening With Gary Lineker" by Arthur Smith & Mike England (November 1998)
An amateur production (West Bridgford Dramatics Society), with me as Gary Lineker in the final moments of the play.
1999
"The Long Sunset" by R.C. Sherriff (November)
The final years of the Roman Empire, and Romans living in Britain are faced with making their own life as an era comes to an end. I played Otho, a young Roman wanting to join the fading Roman forces. A WBDS production
"Elaine" (December)
A Year 1 A-Level Drama piece devised by 8 students. Elaine is facing a crisis - her boyfriend (my character, Scott) has got her pregnant and she has been rejected by her friends and family. The intention is to show the harsh reality of underage sex, and the difficulties that unfortunately arise.
2000
"Celebration" by Keith Waterhouse & Willis Hall (February)
The coming together of two families through the marriage of Bernard (my character) and Christine. It is set in the 1950s in Northern England, performed at WBDS.
"Rosaline" by Sharman McDonald (March)
A contemporary sequel to Romeo & Juliet, bringing together loose ends that Shakespeare left open. I played Valentine, twin brother of Mercutio. Valentine is bitter towards the Capulets, and seeks revenge throughout the play. For the character I worked closely with the director to develop a choreographed fight scene at the beginning and the end of the play, as well as demonstrating fencing skills with Rosaline, a fight which supposedly settles the score towards the end of the play.
"A Captive Audience" by Scott Woolveridge (May, July & September)
A "Pinteresque" 1 act play, written by a member of WBDS and entered into the NANDA (Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Dramatics Association) playwriting competition. Set in an office environment, Potts (my character) enters into an absurd power game with Simpson (the Boss) and Miss Andrews (his secretary).
"Band of Brothers" Episodes 5 & 6 (June & July)
I worked at Hatfield aerodrome as an extra, and featured heavily both as a replacement US Paratrooper, and briefly as a French Commando. I was directed by Tom Hanks (Episode 5), David Nutter (Millennium) and personally by Captain Dale Dye (Supervising Military Advisor).
"The Second Beginning" (December)
A year 2 A-Level devised piece, which integrates various themes and ideas of religion into a hypothetical piece of drama. The world that we know has come to and end, and a new God has been appointed. He has created Man (my character) & Woman (as opposed to Man & Woman, to be more politically correct) and has offered them the chance to start fresh. Unwittingly, they release several deadly sins, personified as Demons, including Diva, archenemy of God, and his cousin. This was our examination piece for our forthcoming exams in the summer, 2001.
2001
"Victoria Station" by Harold Pinter (January)
A BTEC directorial piece. I play the Driver, who communicates with his Controller via his radio. This play is humorous and deadpan, while also exploring various situations and emotions expressed by the characters.
"Cuba" by Liz Lockhead (March)
My first play with the NYT. Set during the Cuban missile crisis in a public school, Mr Cairncross (my character) struggles to maintain order within his school as the children run amok under the very real threat of nuclear war.
Pop Video for Mark Jenkinson (April)
Once again as an extra, dressed to kill at Faces Niteclub in Nottingham. It is a promotional video for two of Nottingham's up and coming DJs.
"Vinegar Tom" by Caryl Churchill (May 2001)
A feminist play set in the middle ages by this well known writer. I play the parts of The Doctor & Packer (Witchfinder General). This will be my final piece at college, and will count towards my final A-Level grade.
"West Side Story" by Arthur Laurents, Leonard Bernstein & Stephen Sondheim (September 2001)
NYT's interpretation of the well known musical . I played Pepe, the second in command of the Sharks.
2002
"Romeo & Juliet" by William Shakespeare (February 2002)
A Combined NYT and Nottingham Arts Theatre production. I played the role of Mercutio, a Capulet, kinsmen to Prince Escales and Romeo's best friend. One of my other key tasks is to choreograph the fight scenes with the other actors.
I'm currently having a break after almost three years of intensive rehearsals and shows, and am currently available for professional work. Please don't hesitate to contact me at my email address : eagle-eye@ntlworld.com
