RADIO BERKSHIRE 1998
LIVE INTERVIEW --transcript
Warren Lee (W) and Ian Huntly (I)

(W)-Each morning at this time we visit a website and this morning we will log on to a website dedicated to motorcycle racing.....
This is www.ttfan.co.uk, Ian Huntlys TT Website

(W)-Good morning Ian
(I)-Good Morning, Warren
(W)-Thank you for joining us this morning: tell us about your website then
(I)-Well it is something I have decided to put together because I have been going to the Isle of Man for more than fifty consecutive years and have in my loft a lot of information and facts in my head that I thought were going to waste..
However, many people have telephoned me at home asking for information and that sort of thing.....So I thought I would save them a phone call by putting it all on a website
(W)-So this is a personal hobby...How long have you been a biker then ?
(I)-Oh Lord !...Many many years---My Mother and Father took me to the Isle of Man in 1947 for the very first time---I hated it the first time ......
(W)-Oh really ??
(I)-It was the noise--I was not used to the noise of racing motorcycles...However I learned to love it and I have been going every year since
(W)-This is really a personal look back to your trips over to the Isle of Man, but what can the public get out of the site ?
(I)-I think I have aimed it at those people who have been to the TT: Those people planning to go to the TT: And those who will never get to the TT....At the present I am getting many e-mails and I MEAN many e-mails saying "Thank you Ian for introducing us to the TT; telling us how to get there; what to see when we get there and what to expect...."
(W)-It doesn't stop there...you have put together a number of other sites haven't you ?
(I)-Yes, it's running away with me now---Only two years ago the Company for which I work decided to go live on the web to advertise and I was given the job of preparing a sort of "storyboard"...Now I had no idea what HTML or URL were but I prepared the storyboard and saw it converted into a website--It was very interesting to see how this guy constructed the site and made it go live...So I thought if he can do that I will have a "bash" at it..I found the magic button "View Source" and was able to analyse how people structured their sites..I do not crib them, I sort of look to see how an effect is created and rewrite them for myself..I write my sites entirely in RAW HTML - I do not use templates..
(W)-Have you met other people who are real fans of the TT and the Isle of Man who are coming together and maybe have contacted you, have you met up with people who perhaps have logged onto your website ??
(I)-Yes indeed----when I worked in a motorcycle shop in Slough--One guy came from New Zealand, another from America and a couple from Sweden came to see me recently...
(W)- OK then but what is the web address if anyone wants to log into your TT site?
(I)-Well I have two main TT sites up and running ...plus a holiday site www.beentheredunnit.com...The second TTFan site is a new one called www.ttfan.com which is really the build up to this years races which will be held in late May/early June ...The TT is a fortnight long...My new site is essentially for people planning to go, what to see, who to take, where to stay and how to get involved themselves..For instance I am an entrant and freelance journalist and I want to pass on these ideas to other people

(W)-Well today I logged in to the terrific TT website which is www.ttfan.co.uk
