UNDER CONSTRUCTION

Our church is a centre for the whole community.
This is reflected by the wide variety of people who use our buildings
each week. Help and training for people with HIV, work with refugee
groups, support and training for parents, work with people who have
learning difficulties, are just a few of the activities which take
place at the church. There are many other local groups which use
our premises and of course our own church groups:
SCOUTS CUBS & BEAVERS
These meet on a Thursday evening at the church beginning
at 5.00pm with Beavers,6.00pm Cubs and 7.30pm Scouts. All boys are
welcome at these organizations. No church affiliation is required,
although the boys are expected to attend church parade services
which are usually held once a month.
BROWNIES AND GUIDES
Our Brownies meet at 6.00pm on a Friday and are
followed by the Guides at 7.30pm. Again, there is no church affiliation
required for these groups but girls are expected to attend church
parade services.
WIVES GROUP
Our wives group meets on alternate Wednesday evenings
at 8.00pm and have a varied programme of speakers and activities.
There are about 22 members of the group and membership is open to
all women.
GUILD
Our Guild meets on a Friday at 2.00pm and is open
to all. There are about 12 members of the Guild who enjoy a variety
of speakers and activities.
BIBLE STUDY GROUP
Our Bible Study Group meets on a Monday afternoon
at 2.00pm and usually follows a short series of studies and then
breaks for about a month before starting another series. At the
moment the group have been looking at an excellent booklet produced
by the Congregational Federation called "Head Heart Hands".
COFFEE SHOP AND CHRISTIAN BOOKSHOP
When our new premises were opened in 1991 we opened
a coffee shop which drew in members of the local community. This
closed some years ago now, but when alterations to our premises
are completed in the next few months we will be re-opening our coffee
shop. This will have an entrance from our main shopping street and
we hope that many will call in for a cup of coffee and a chat whilst
doing their shopping. There will be a small Christian bookshop connected
with our coffee shop, and the church will be open for any wishing
to sit in the quiet or pray.
