Current Professional Activities
Dr McGeehin is a committee member of the UK Gas Sensing Group, an industry/university 'club', and a member of the committee of the Instrument Science and Technology Group of the Institute of Physics. He is on the leading edge of European fibre optic sensing developments. He attends many technical meetings and has advised both the UK Government (DTI) and European Commission on measurement technology priorities.
For the US organisation ASTM, Committee D22.05, Dr McGeehin is drafting a Standard Guide for measurement of air quality within buildings. The idea is to establish a procedure which will cost effectively allow the spatial distribution of pollutants in buildings to be measured. The draft is due by the end of 1999.
Dr McGeehin is a Fellow of the Institute of Measurement and Control, Member of the Institute of Physics, Chartered Physicist, and Member of the Society of Photo-optical Instrument Engineers (USA). He has published extensively in the technical and patent literature (see Annex II)
