Grange Split Grade Championships
Sunday 21st June
The club took 6 players to this event in Bristol. This was the second trip to a championship, outside of Devon for our members. This time we had the backing from Parcel Force with a very nice mini bus.
The event was limited to 100 competitors on the day. But still medals had to be won, and there were some good players trying to win them. Theses smaller split grade events are excellent for players to build up some experiance and confidence in a competeion situation.
Win or loose you will improve your judo in time. Well our players hit a very big high there with 5 players winnning gold medals.
Adam Roddy on the u30 section be being thhe only player, so he went into the u34 group with Daniel Squire, but the weight difference was too much for him. Daniel lost his pool matches so missed out on the medals this time. Amy Attree U32 had a solid performance winning four fights with ippon to take gold. Helen Cordingly U40 produced another food display to another gold medal. Adam Brown U50 had to beat his oppenent in the best of three contest, which he did in style to win gold. Micheal Roddy U50 is starting to show some improvment, this time he won a bronze medal.
It was another excellent result for the players and our club. Everyone was well behaved on the day and kept the bus clean.
