ANKESH BECOMES BLOODBATH AS ENDUKS INVADE

Enduks Hit Nimmur Hard

Our Heralds have learned that King Anupalassar attempted to end the 1500 year old war with the enduk kingdom of Eshu at the start of the new year. However, it seems that the enduks still considered the war to be alive and well, and hit out at Nimmur from the town of Um-Shedu. The enduk army, lead personally by Gildesh himself, did not hit Nimmur directly, but instead passed through the Ganlil Valley to hit the province of Ankesh. The manscorpions were evidently surprised by this flanking movement. 400 manscorpions met an estimated 2000 enduks, and fled without a fight towards the city of Er. After the manscorpion army had departed, the enduks killed every manscorpion they could see, and burned the temple of Menlil to the ground.
The main bulk of the manscorpion army, rumoured to be as large as 10,000 warriors, was nowhere to be seen. Of course, with the underground caverns of Apsur forming a warren beneath the overland kingdom of Gilmun, the manscorpions have plenty of places to hide. There was much rejoicing across Eshu at the news of their victory. King Anupalassar is reported to be enraged at this turn of events, and has recently hired a new general, Talamarax the Great, to lead the manscorpions to final victory against the enduks.

Great Wyrm Pyre leaves the jungle

The Overking of the Great Jungle has laid claim to large tracts of land near Eshu, on the coast of the Arm of the Immortals. We will all be fascinated by the response of the Priest-King of Eshu, when he learns of this news upon his return from the battlefields in Nimmur. Such a development could well be a great threat to the development of mercantile operations in the area, as the war canoes and raiders of the Jungle now have more shores to use as bases for their pirating antics. Both the LB Trading Company, and Don Jorge Vilaverde, have trading interests that may be endangered by such a activities.

Queen Catherine Leads Bellayne to Victory

Elite forces of the Royal Army of Bellayne crossed over the border into Shazak upon hearing that the local lizard kin, under the direction of King Shaz, were attacking rakasta hunters who have plied their trade in the forests east of Shazak for generations. The rakasta forces met little opposition from the shazaks, and with their protection the hunters can continue to hunt without fear.

Trade in Renardy and Bellayne under pressure

King Louis of Renardy has been petitioned by Parliament recently to reduce the burden of taxation upon smaller businesses working within Renardy. Lion Trading Incorporated conducts brisk trade from several small tea warehouses within Renardy, but the profitability of this business has been severely curtailed by the income tax decreed by the King. Parliament recently voted to enforce a likewise tax against lupin winegrowers working within Bellayne until the dispute was solved. Prime Minister Hampden assures this paper that the money accrued by the tax will directly subsidise the hard pressed tea warehouses in Renardy.

King Sigismund's Dream

Eusdria has long desired to unite the Savage Coast under their own religious banner. With the civil war over, King Sigismund has been attempting to make his dream a reality. The relics of Zul, and the land around them, are the first of what will doubtless be many new acquisitions for Eusdria. The King is understood to have the full backing of his nobles, meaning that Eusdria will be a very powerful force over the next few years.

Counter Revolution in Almarron

A vast army of gnolls crossed over into Ciudad Tejillas, under command of Don Esteban - doubtless the latest attempt from the Don to reclaim "his" Almarron. Baron Maximiliano's loyalists, outnumbered nearly ten to one, quickly retreated into the fortifications around the capital. Without the benefit of siege equipment, the walls and cannon mounted in the fortifications managed to keep the horde at bay. Esteban left eight hundred mercenaries to besiege Baron Maximiliano's capital, while the bulk of gnolls headed towards Costella. Here, the gnolls quickly gathered up as much loot from the village as possible, while managing to wreck the place totally. Don Esteban's men attempted to intervene and prevent the pillage, but the gnolls turned on them and very few of the mercenaries escaped to tell of the calamity. After days of looting and burning, the gnolls head back to El Grande Carrascal, leaving the remnants of the army of "El Salvador" besieging Ciudad Tejillas.

Colinas Grustescas Taken by Narvaez

The Colinas Grustescas region was taken by Narvaez, when agents of the Inquisition crossed over into the territory just after the new year. There was no organised resistance from the bandits that have long been known to infest the area, although one of our Heralds noted several large Baronial warships hurriedly leaving the Colinas Grustescas and heading out into the open sea.

Trade Flowering in Gulf of Hule

Many new trade routes have been opened in the Gulf of Hule area. Texeiras has made a trade pact with Zvornik, Vilaverde has starting running merchantmen from ports in Bellayne, and LB Trading Company has set up trade from ports as far apart as Slagovich and Dunwick. In fact every Barony has been involved in trade to some degree, with one notable exception. The upsurge in violence in Almarron recently has caught would-be entrepreneurs by surprise, with several merchants getting caught in the crossfire.

Guadalante Takes Buffalo Run

Under the new Baronesa, Catalina of Guadalante, gauchos from that State claimed the Buffalo Run area, with the help of gnollish mercenaries hired from the inhabitants of El Grande Carrascal. However, it seems to be true that the Baronesa does not wish to engage in a war with any of its Tampicos neighbours, as she announced that the army of Guadalante will be reduced in size by four hundred gauchos.
John Wain on the other hand increased the size of his army when it became clear that Guadalantan military units were present in the Mustang Hills region. Sir John also claimed the province of Whitestone, which he has been using as a buffer against the goblinoids for some time. The seemingly random spread of province loyalties in that area promises future tension and instability.

The shadow of Hule lengthens

Hule has indulged in some expansion lately. Hulean colonists took the isle of Jezovo in the Gulf much to the chagrin of Margrave Bosit Hojah, who has his eyes on that free town himself. Hule also claimed the remnants of Budavik, a town on the Hulean border ravaged by the recent wars. In Budavik the local priest of Halav attempted to rouse the inhabitants, but as he could muster less than thirty Traladarans to arms, those Traldar living in that area have no choice but submit to Hulean rule.

Biclagul, City of Demons

Zagoran forces attempted to take the ruined city of Biclagul last month, but met with strange opposition. Reports from the battle are confused, but it seems that goat headed demons emerged from the hills and attacked the Zagoran army. The Zagorans panicked and were routed in short order, returning to the town of Topolodzhik where the local priests conducted a massive service, beseeching Halav to exorcise the demons of Biclagul. Hulean involvement is, of course, suspected.
