Pefkos village

Pefkos is on the northeastern end of Lardos Bay. There are no discernible traditional buildings in the resort, as it is purely a holiday village. Some of the houses are the summer homes if the inhabitants of Lindos, who give up their buildings for rent. It is clear that Lindian residents are gaining in wealth from the tourist trade.

The name Pefkos means pine tree, and there are quite a few near by, which gives good shade for your mid-day siesta. The village is protected from any strong northerly winds by the slope it is built on, which means that it gets very hot in the summer months.

Pefkos is a quiet place and ideal if relaxation is your priority. The beaches are sand and fine pebbles, with adequate sunbeds and umbrellas for hire. There are limited watersports for the energetic, but it is mainly a relaxed resort. Pefkos has a reasonable amount of facilities to last you a couple of weeks. The restaurants are of decent quality and the supermarkets will allow you the chance of picking up a few goodies to take home.

The village of Pefkos boasts a disco, chemist, doctor, a chip shop, bars, tavernas and restaurants. Pefkos is also the home of a bar which shows live SKY football matches, so if you are staying in Lardos, the couple of kilometres walk is worth it.

Pefkos is within walking distance to Lindos, which everyone must visit on any trip to Rhodes. Being on the main southeastern road, busses can take you to Rhodes Town for a minimal charge.

Although new, Pefkos may not be suitable for the less mobile, due to the hill it is built on.
