The outline under the sheet is familiar - you've seen it a hundred times on a hundred different cases - but still your fingers twitch with the need to pull it back and see.
The doc beats you to it, his eyes holding a sympathy you refuse to acknowledge, and then you're staring down into his face.
You know he's dead, but you're still afraid. You expect him to leap up, stick a gun in your face again and it takes everything you have to keep your breathing steady.
"It's over, Nick," Grissom says.
They still don't get it.
They never will.
