United Kingdom: Action
Stations
THE
Professionals are back for the '90s, and
this time there's a girl. Makers of the
independent revival of the 1970s action
series searched the world for actors to
fill the shoes of Martin Shaw and Lewis
Collins. They're convinced their unabashed
formula of action-ready boys, guns, fast
cars and beautiful girls will find as
many fans now as it did all those years
ago. The new cast, unveiled last week
in London, is topped by veteran action
hero Edward Woodward as Declan Malone,
the head of trouble shooting security
force CI5. Brit Colin Wells and Canadian
Kal Weber play Sam Curtis and Chris Keel,
the Bodie and Doyle of the '90s. Another
Canadian, the petite Lexa Doig, is Tina
Backus, a sweet-faced but dangerous backroom
computer boffin. Shooting of the 13-part
series starts within weeks.
