Recommending Stories

Rules

  • This is a recommendations page, not a review page.  If you thought a story was good, but could have been better, send some constructive criticism to the writer rather than to us.We just want to know what rocks your particular world.
  • This isn’t a competition. We’re not asking you to ‘judge’ stories, just say which you particularly liked. Tastes vary considerably. We are just asking which stories you would rush back to, which you read and reread, which are your favourites and why.
  • There's nothing to stop you from recommending a fic that's already been recommended. We're interested in your favourites, and if they tally with someone else's so be it.
  • You do have the option of saying “I love everything by this author” or “I love this whole series” rather than have to pick one story in a series. Or not. It’s up to you.
  • Although we ask you for comments on why this particular story struck a chord, we reserved the right to edit your comments for brevity. Think those little quotations on book jackets and film posters and you’ll get the general idea. Where possible, we’ll consult with you on this before we do it.
  • All recommendations are anonymous. There are several reasons for this, including:
    -      We want the recommendations to be as honest as possible.
    -      No one should have to be quizzed on why they preferred fic X to fic Y.  Hey, if we all liked the same thing, life would be pretty boring.
    -      Some people don’t want it to be known that they read or like slash, death fics, fantasies, whatever. They shouldn’t have to justify it.
  • Despite the anonymity on site, WE need to know your name and e-mail address. We may write to you to ask for clarification (there are some stories on site with the same name), and we need to let you know which of your comments we’ll put up, but we promise that no names or e-mail addresses will go on site. We know how fiercely our agents guard their privacy.
  • While there is nothing to stop you from recommending your own fic if you do, in order to be scrupulously fair, we will note down on site that the recommendation was made by the author (the only occasion that we won’t apply anonymity) and let the reader draw their own conclusions. It would contrary to the ethos of CI5 to do otherwise.
  • As always, we reserve the right not to put up anything obscene, contrary to the ethos of the site, etc.
