On our first day we arrived at Cairo Airport after a considerable delay at Heathrow (so reassuring to know that it was necessary for them to do an emergency tyre-change on our plane!). We arrived late at the Mena House, a beautiful hotel with lovely gardens overlooking the pyramids. Even late at night it was possible to pick out the dark outline of the Great Pyramid (you may be able to pick it out on the photo below, behind the main tower of the Mena House).
