out each night in a mangrove swamp.
Its nostrils stand out on little tubes from
its face; twice the usual size with completely different markings on its
fur.

People think I’m a bit batty myself, up
to my knees in a smelly mud swamp full of malaria mosquitoes
Ben examined the chewed white contours
of his bitten fingers,

dripping from his fangs.
