Don's appearance on Letterman years ago struck a nerve, so I suppose it was Ice Cream For Crow (I saw the interview again recently and was startled to find that I could remember practically every word of the conversation after only one viewing over 20 years ago - obviously, the Captain made an impression), though I didn't seek out his records until years later.  I'd only heard Hot Rats as a teen which didn't send me.  Oddly, it was following the career path of Eric Drew Feldman (whose work I knew from his stint with Pere Ubu) that led me to Doc at the Radar Station, which remains my favorite record.
