Lloyds Bank, which currently stands at £36.00

May 3rd - Broad Oak Village Hall
Thanks were sent from the Labour Party to
all members of the Collective who participated in this event.
The takings from the evening were £96.01p
of which total profits offered to the Collective were £26.01p.
The Collective agreed to take £20.00.
The Labour Party have also said they would
be happy for us to do another gig at a later date. This will be discussed
at the next general meeting.
Considering this was our first gig the evening
went very smoothly without any major hick-ups. Well done and thanks
to all who were involved.
June 14th - Jazz Night at The Jack Cade
Three members of the Collective were actively
involved in the jazz evening and despite the cynicism in The Jack Cade
before the gig, the whole evening was an unmittigated success. Many thanks
to the landlord for not only supporting us but also for the use of his
transit van to transport our equipment. Another jazz night to be
arranged shortly - all suggestions to Nick Kenward.
June 15th - The Six Bells
This was due to consist of three bands playing
although only 'Scouts Do It: In Their Pants" & "The Mustard Mitts"
played. Despite the non-appearance of 'The Long Haired Lovers' and the
occurance of a fire in the pub the evening went well!
COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION
It was decided at the last committee meeting
to recommend to members that the Heathfield Musicians' Collective affiliate
with the Heathfield Community Association.
The obvious benefits of such a move are that
it would give us not only more publicity in the area but also a right to
put our views and ideas into the policy of the Heathfield Community Association
which would certainly be to our advantage in the future.
The annual fee for the Collective to join
would only be approx. £10.00
FESTIVAL AT HORAM
Dez and Carol who are organizing the festival on August Bank Holiday need to know as soon as possible which bands are willing to play and they also need volunteers to help setting up and running the event. Please see Ben Waters.
POSTER COMPETITION
A competition to design a poster is coming up. Details to be given at the next General Meeting.
TREASURERS REPORT
The account now stands at £91.64p plus £6.00 petty cash.
NEXT GENERAL MEETING
This will be held on Monday 7th July at 8.3Opm
in the Jack Cade Shed. Please come and support the Collective.
July 5th - Labour Party Bar-B-Q
Three members of the Collective were involved
in this event. The evening went very well indeed and despite
the rain - the band played on!
July 9th - Bilbo Baggins. Eastbourne
The evenings entertainment was supplied by
'The Turtle Rubbers' who completed a lively set which
included the infamous 'If She Died On The Job
Would You Stop?' which resulted in a ban from that particular venue.
Nevertheless the Crowd undoubtedly loved it.
The band gave £5 to the Collective.
July 12th - Jack Cade Bar-B-Q
Les Intestines (formerly the 'Turtle Rubbers')
were due to play for approximately one hour towards the end
of the evening but unfortunately they were stopped after three songs.
Once again the majority of the crowd were
obviously enjoying it and two bookings resulted from the brief performance.
Sunday 13th July
During the Committee meeting at the Six Bells
the Chairman was kidnapped to play bass guitar with the Coyotees at the
Golden Martlet. The rest of the Committee and several other Collective
members attended the gig and all agreed it was far more enjoyable
than a Committee meeting.
The Coyotees are hopefully now joining the
Collective which means possibly five new members and the evening raised
£3 for the Collective.
N.B. Thankyou to all members of the Collective who have at any time loaned equipment, etc. to other bands. On many occaisions the kind generosity of others has saved the day.
HEATHFIELD AND WALDRON COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION
The Heathfield Musicians' Collective has now
joined this association as was agreed at the last General Meeting. More
details to follow.
FESTIVAL AT HORAM
This is now being held on the 15th and 16th
of August. A list of bands from the Collective has allready
been sent to the organisers. Please understand
that bands are expected to give a little of their time to help out with
general organisation of the event.
It is hoped tht the Collective will have its
own marquee on the site - help will also be needed as from Friday lunch
time to erect it, etc. Volunteers to see Dave Hill (Vice Chairman). Final
details of the Festival to be given at the next General Meeting.
MENU
A menu is now being prepared of bands allready
formed in the Heath field Musicians' Collective. This is to be distributed
to any possible venues. All bands wishing to be on the menu please contact

NEXT GENERAL MEETING
This will be held on monday 4th August at 8:30pm
in the Jack Cade Shed. Please come and support the Collective.
The Collective is definitely doing well and
growing rapidly. Membership is increasing, funds are stable and the General
idea seems to work well. Well done everybody and keep it up.
Below follows a few of the things that were
discussed at the last meeting. The next 'happening' is on 29th OCTOBER
l986 in the delightful setting of the JACK CADE SHED, kindly loaned to
us by that well known local patron of the Performing arts Micky '1 could
have danced all night but the beer ran out' Jarvis.
So stop examining the local pastures for strange
fungal growths and PLEASE MAKE A SPECIAL EFFORT TO ATTEND as attendances
at meetings have been decreasing. Without your participation the H.M.C.
cannot work!!!
The TREASURERS REPORT.... ( Could do better )
Matthew Levett was unanimously elected treasurer,
after the surprise resignation of Kic Nenwood, at the last meeting.
He has quite a task in front of him to sort
it out, and Matthew will present an up-to date report at the next meeting.
POSTERS
Niki Ellis's unique entry was declared the
winner of our recently oversubscribed competition, after much soul searching
(art is so difficult to judge, don't you think? ) Niki will hopefully receive
her prize. we hope to get a quantity of these posters printed
up for general use.
MENU
The Menu is ready and waiting to receive your
recipies i.e. band details. please contact Wendy so she can dish it up!
at the next meeting
FESTIVAL
It was decided at the last meeting to send
a letter to the original organisers asking them to attend a
meeting to discuss the controversy over finance,
who paid/played what, where, when.
DINNER AND DANCE
Bruce Pead has had the brilliant idea, a real
corker!, of a Christmas Dinner and Dance (vegitarians catered for ) for
members and guests, a groupies night out, so look in the cupboard and see
if you can find 'where you stashed that last one you had and give 'em a
night to remember!
He needs to know approximate numbers very
soon. Please contact Bruce or the committee.
P. A.
The Peavey 200 watt P.A. is available for
collective bands use for 25% of their fee for the gig. The money will go
to collective funds.

The question is not: how much are you going to get out of it? Nor is it how much are you going to put into it? But rather:how immediately are you going to say yes to no matter what unpredictability, even when what happens seems to have no relation to what one thought was one's commitment.FOOD FOR THOUGHT
There are already so many Sounds to listen to. Why then do we make music? Consider one's relation to music like that to, for example, animals, weeds, stars, garbage, or people one rnay never meet again, provided that one is not exclusively a professional keeper, breeder, disposer, or exploiter of these.
Thats all folks!
