 9. HOW DID YOU FIRST DISCOVER CAPTAIN BEEFHEART & THE MAGIC BAND,
 AND WAS  THERE A PARTICULAR SONG THAT MADE YOU SEE THE LIGHT?:

I was introduced to Captain Beefheart by my friend Bret Hart around 1985 or so. Although I found the guitar work pretty darn mesmerizing and Don's words interesting I wasn't quite yet hooked. A few months later while visiting home I found a very old, dirty taped copy of Trout Mask under the seat of my older brother's car. I asked him about it and was told that it was "crap." I realized then and there that there must be something to this Captain Beefheart and started playing the tape over and over, much to the dismay of my older brother.
