Unfortunately, I have not had an oppurtunity to hear any of the albums in their entirety.  My next musical
purchase, however, will be Trout Mask Replica.

7. TOP 10 OTHER ACTS:

1. Tom Waits
2. Link Wray (my personal guitar hero)
3. P.J. Harvey
4. myself
5. Devo
6. Nina Hagen (mainly just Nunsexmonkrock, but, man
that's a hell of an album)
7. any Delta Blues singer
8. REM
9. The Smiths
10. The Violent Femmes

8. NUMBER OF ALBUMS  OWNED:
more than I want to go count.  Which isn't to say I have a lot, because, relatively, I don't.  I'm just lazy.

9. HOW DID YOU FIRST DISCOVER CAPTAIN BEEFHEART & THE MAGIC BAND,
AND WAS THERE A PARTICULAR SONG THAT MADE YOU SEE THE LIGHT?:
They were mentioned by Tom Waits in an interview, so I decided to look 'em up on the internet t'see if I could find some downloads or something to find out what they sounded like.  Google led me straight to the
Radar Station.  First thing I heard was "Hot Head." The moment the drums came in I was sold.

10. NUMBER OF BEEFHEART  GIGS SEEN,  AND WHICH YEARS:
sadly, none.  Alas, I am too young.

11. ART SHOWS VISITED: see No. 10

12. ANY CONTACT WITH DON?: nope

13. MUSICAL ABILITY / TRAINING:
no formal training; Taught myself to play guitar, bass, mandolin, piano, and various percussion.  And things that aren't supposed to be instruments.  I'm also working on banjo & recorder (although I'm having great difficulty figuring out the scale on the latter). My principal instrument is the guitar, and I am exceedingly proud of my ability on it, considering I have only been playing for 2 years.  2-4 hours of practice a day seems to go a long way.  I also sing. Blues singing is my specialty, and I'm also proud of my ability at it, considering my young age & Caucasian heritage.  I think I'm naturally a tenor, but I can sing low notes, low enough to sing "I'm Gonna
Booglarize You, Baby." I can read music, but not fast enough to read it while playing.  I know a lot of music theory, but I also know that it's only theory

14. ANY OTHER INFO YOU WISH TO ADD?
I am a poet (some of my work has Beefheartian & Waitsian tinges; this is coincidence.  I don't write the way I do because I like Beefheart & Tom Waits; I like them for the same reasons I write the way I do).
And a painter, watercolors mainly.

Elephants die of starvation when they get old because their teeth wear away over the years.  Imagine how
long they'd live if they were supplied with dentures.
