9. HOW DID YOU FIRST DISCOVER CAPTAIN BEEFHEART & THE MAGIC BAND,
AND WAS THERE A PARTICULAR SONG THAT MADE YOU SEE THE LIGHT?:
I saw Strictly Personal at a department store record dept when it first came out. I had not heard the album.
I had not heard of Captain Beefheart. But somehow I knew. I had to have this strange looking thing.
I have not looked back.

10. NUMBER OF BEEFHEART  GIGS SEEN,  AND WHICH YEARS:
The years are VERY FUZZY, but i have seen CB&MB in Portland (where i grew up), San Diego
(where i spent a year, working as a janitor at a Frito factory), and - most notably - at the Keystone Korner
in San francisco (where i have lived off and on for years).  The Keystone was a small, strictly jazz club
(gone now, sadly). An intimate, incredible show.  I mean... it totally blew me away.
I had spit on my face from his sax solos.
