8. NUMBER OF ALBUMS OWNED: 1469. HOW DID YOU FIRST DISCOVER CAPTAIN BEEFHEART & THE MAGIC BAND,
AND WAS THERE A PARTICULAR SONG THAT MADE YOU SEE THE LIGHT?:T'was the MIRROR MAN, I was introduced to first (& you know about the "first cut..."), by my student friend Russ Climber (a "Jazzer", actually),
and we shared his obsession through the following decade. It's his Beefheart-vinyls, I'm presently authorized to "keep"/look after/use up.
with TMR then, it was MOONLIGHT ON VERMONT (das haute die nadel aus der rille), & with the KID, I fell for the MARIMBA.
10. NUMBER OF BEEFHEART GIGS SEEN, AND WHICH YEARS:
The closest I got to the diamond was Gary Lucas playing FLAVOR BUD LIVING on an 1994 solo in Berlin11. ART SHOWS VISITED:
12. ANY CONTACT WITH DON?:
13. MUSICAL ABILITY / TRAINING:
i once tried to teach myself the CARROT-thing on piano, by recorder. gave up after intro.
for a couple of months took marimba-lessons. didn't get on well with the exercises, though, being left-handed.
I play RADIO well.14. ANY OTHER INFO YOU WISH TO ADD?
Being no musician, I feel the RANKING is all about taste, STRICTLY PERSONAL, as it were.
so my ranking is simply based on the lots of lifetime I spent listening to the record in question (while listening to nothing or little else)
(an alternative ranking could be based on the impossibility of getting FAMILIAR with a beefheart album.., with TMR heading, of course.
I do believe this is why all this music has been living on so far and so well.)
