We currently have in development a television
programme that is like nothing that has ever been
seen before on British television. This programme
is a step away from the barrage of magazine
programmes that have flooded screens across the
country. The normal format for such programmes
is to mix music and interviews with personalities
currently doing the rounds to promote their latest
programme, book or film.
The Concept
For the past decade general interest magazines for
women have populated the newsagents shelves,
but now a new breed of magazine is making the
shelves it home. The time of the men's general
interest magazine has come. Titles such as Esquire,
FHM, Maxim, GQ and Men's Health now give
men the choice of a magazine covering many life
style issues instead of the single format stereotype
magazines that cover subjects such as sport or
motoring. We have viewed this change, this is why
we have created "The Ultimate Mans Guide". This
covers a vast spectrum of issues that can confront
a man in his life time. These are presented to the
viewer in an amusing, entertaining, but still factual
way.
The Research
To test the market to see if the general public also
like the idea of a programme dedicated to male life
issues, we carried out market research on the
subject. A thousand men and a thousand women
between the ages of eighteen and thirty five were
questioned. The results were that 39.7% of the
men questioned read a male general interest
magazine and a whopping 82.8% would be very
interested in a programme dedicated to male life
issues. Favourable results were also returned from
the women questioned, with 19.8% reading a male
general interest magazine and 70.1% said that they
would like to see a programme covering male life
style issues.
What do you think of a programme of this
nature? Please leave your comments because we
would like to hear your view.
