Beautiful Maladies Site (USA)
Very nice looking site about Island's Tom Waits compilation from Polygram.
Not much about Beautiful Maladies itself but some good video clips
from the 'Limo Interview' and the Downtown Train and I Don't Wanna Grow Up
videos.
Beautiful Maladies Site (UK)
The UK site for Beautiful Maladies includes plenty of info, a short
biography, full lyrics, and plenty of soundclips.
Personal pages
Tom Waits Miscellania
Gary Tausch's extensive site exploring every crevice of Tom Wait's ouevre.
Gary is friendly, passionate and approachable. A true raindog.
The Tom Waits Picture Gallery
Almost every picture of Tom that has appeared in print, or on video. As you
would expect, it's graphically heavy and sometimes very slow loading. A great
resource.
Harry's Harbour Bizarre
Graham's site for Tom Waits mp3's sound files. Graham has a policy of
offering only songs not available anywhere else [except expensively from
bootleggers] Therefore not depriving Tom of any profit. He currently has the
whole of the Oakland benefit show, 2 songs from the Paris concert, and some
rare studio cuts, and soon A Cold Beer on a Hot Night
Raindogs Mailing List Archives
The greatest number of serious collectors, experts, and passionate fans
is concentrated on this mailing list. If you have a question about any aspect
of Wait's work a search these archives usually gives an answer.
Waitstock 8
This is a very well done site dedicated to an annual gathering of Waits
fans in Poughkeepsie, NY. In 1998 it will be held on October 10. Details on the
site, and pics and reports of last year.
The Danish Tom Waits Society
A very nice site. Including biog and album info, quizzes, and the 'World Wide
Waits', a campaign to get Tom to tour again.
Tom Waits: From Black Rider to Closing Time
A graphically superb site concentrating on the mainstream of Wait's
work, but also including news and gathered comments from fans.
Frank's Wild Years: A Thesis on the Music of Tom Waits
An interesting and intellectual exploration of the deeper themes
in Wait's work.
The Church of Dan
Contains an extensive Waits section with lots of pictures. Can be slow
loading
Tom Waits på nettet
A Tom Waits site in Norwegian. Seems very extensive. Has good links.
Commercial sites
Wall of Sound
The Waits section of this excellent music news site
Tomography
I have a problem with this site. He is hoping to make money from
his cd-rom, and smothers everything he does with his own
copyright notices but he's obviously lifted most of his
material from the web [including lyrics complete with formatting and
typo's from the 'old' Tom Waits Digest]. Still the parts that are his own
work are good, and it's a good idea, with the proviso that he doesn't rip
off Tom doing it, and that he credits the originators of stuff he uses.
Allied sites
Tape Trader Network
An excellent site for Waits Completists out there. Very many people
in this site's index trade Tom Waits tapes.
Leonard Cohen Fan Information Files
There is a considerable overlap between Waits and Cohen fans.
Randy Newman
Very many Waits fans also like Newman's lyrical songs. I, for one, would
love to hear Tom do 'Davy the Fat Boy'
Lou Reed
Reed shares many of Waits themes on the seemy underbelly of life
The Van Morrison Website
Van the Man
KCRW
Radio Station. Including the 'Morning Become Eclectic' archives with
2 interviews with Tom. Lots of other stuff of interest too.
The Pogues: In the wake of the Medusa
One of the best sites about this great irish band much
loved by many Waits afficionados.
Bob Dylan
The man who initially inspired Tom to write original songs
