Inside The
Prisoner - by Ian Rakoff:
Ian wrote the episode Living In Harmony and has recently produced this excellent book which looks in detail at his involvement with The Prisoner together with some of his own memories of the time and anecdotes about his personal life.
RATING: B+
The
Prisoner - by Alain Carraze and
Helene Oswald:
Translated into English from the French original, this is a marvellous book with many beautiful colour photographs showing production stills and many previously unseen shots. The book goes into exhaustive detail about each episode and details much of the production efforts behind each episodic masterpiece!!
RATING: A
The Gillis Guide to The Prisoner - by S.J. Gillis:
If you've ever wondered what happened to some of the actors in The Prisoner prior to or after they appeared in the series this is the book for you. It cover every actor to appear in the show and lists many of their roles. It's a really useful book to use after watching an episode and then look-up and find out about the actors.
RATING: B
The
Prisoner and Danger Man - by Dave
Rogers:
This book is great value for money as its two books in one! It covers the whole of the Danger Man (Secret Agent) episodes, each with an episode synopsis and then moves on to The Prisoner listing the episodes together with production credits and episode guides. The author is a well-respected writer on many cult TV programmes and has written several other books on the subject. Unfortunately, this book is no longer available from Amazon.co.uk, but try any good second hand bookshops or some of the other online bookstores.
RATING: B+
The Prisoner: Shattered Visage
- by Dean Motter:
A few years back Marvel released a series of 4 comicbooks containing this story. It has now been compiled into one book. The story concerns a somewhat older Number Six and Leo McKern's Number Two, its well drawn and is an interesting addition to the Prisoner merchandise available. Unfortunately, this book is no longer available from Amazon.co.uk, but try any good second hand bookshops or some of the other online bookstores.

The Prisoner VHS Box Set
(PAL) (Remastered) :
Avialable in two individual volumes (episodes 1-8 in one and 9-17 the second) this boxset of all The Prisoner episodes is a remastered version with excellent picture quality. The colours are vibrant and a joy to watch, it makes the shows come alive more than ever before, the Village has never looked so colourful! The set also incudes a free Prisoner corkscrew and collectors postcards together with the awful Prisoner Video Companion on a seperate tape which attempts to explain the series yet is little more than clips from the show with a somewhat ill-informed voice-over.
RATING: A
At present there is no word of The Prisoner being released on DVD (Digital Versatile Disc), but as BIG fans of the format we are anxious to see it!! As Carlton International Media have now purchased the rights to all ITC entertainment shows it is possible that The Prisoner will be released on DVD in the near future. Carlton has released a large number of discs in the U.K. and so are evidently in favour of the little shiny platters........

The Prisoner CD Soundtrack Album Volume
2:
More of the same yet even better!! Some of the most catchy tunes from the show are featured here, the ones from The Girl Who Was Death are particularly humable! Click on the cover for a track listing at Tunes.com and you can also hear each of the tracks through their website!
RATING: A+
The Prisoner CD Soundtrack Album Volume 3:
Yes, a third volume! The series contained an awful lot of music. This volume is not as good as the previous two, but still manages to provide some surprises. Much of the music is stock stuff from the Warner Chappell Music Library but is nonetheless worth including in any collection. Click the link to view the tracklist.
