14. Living in Harmony

The latest idea to extract secrets from Number 6 has a wild-western setting.

Number 6 is dumped in a small town named 'Harmony'. One of the locals, 'Mexican Sam' directs him to the saloon where heThe Judge, Harmony's equivalent to Number 2 meets 'Kathy' and later, 'The Judge' who seems to run the town with an iron hand.

The Judge wants Number 6 to take over the role of town Sheriff but he refuses and states he's moving on. As a result he is forced into a situation in which he's put in jail under protective custody. Kathy's brother (a previous inmate) is hanged as a grim warning.

Kathy helps Number 6 to escape but he's caught and dragged back. She is found guilty of aiding a criminal and put in jail with a psychopath called 'The Kid' as her jailer.

Number 6 decides the only way to win is to fight from within and takes on the role of town SheriffNumber 6, having previously had a run-in with The Kid earlier, finds that another confrontation with this unstable character is bound to occur again soon. Kathy is released as Number 6 decides to take on the role of Sheriff, but he won't carry a gun. He plans to escape with Kathy but she is murdered by The Kid before this can happen.

Number 6 kills The Kid after a shoot-out, during a gunfight with the Judge and his men Number 6 appears to be shot, but nothing is all that it seems in Harmony..............

Trivia

The episode suffererd from censorship when originally aired. Johnson's hanging, the sequences where Kathy is strangled, Number 6 being dragged back to Harmony and the fight with Zeke were all originally cut when shown on U.K. TV.

During the fight between Number 6 and The Kid, McGoohan and Kanner had bets on who would draw first! McGoohan won!
