The (Liverpool) Roadrunners

"The Stones are good - nearly as good as the Roadrunners"

- George Harrison -

Welcome to the official website of one of Liverpool's best-loved R&B bands of the 1960s - The Roadrunners.

This site is maintained by the original Liverpool Roadrunners line-up. If the Beatles are all you know about the 60s Merseybeat scene, stick around for a minute and find out more about us, the Cavern Club, the Star Club... and some of the other names who didn't make it quite so big as you know who...

Click on the pic and we'll introduce ourselves! But check your speaker volume!

April, 2001

Quite a while since we had an update, so we were delighted to get back in touch with Tim Dugdill of the Georgians. Tim sent us a Mersey Beat article about our regular venue - the Hope Hall. Thanks, Tim.

From here you can access the following pages. In the spirit of early 1960s UK - all are in glorious BLACK & WHITE (well, almost all).

  • English fans - welcome - read the story of the band.
  • Deutsche Fans - Wilkommen! - hier ist die Übersetzung.
  • Listen! - From our jukebox page you can hear our music in RealAudio or download .mp3s.
  • Visit the photo gallery - pics of the Roadrunners then... and now.
  • Photos (1999) of a trip to Hamburg to meet up with some of the other Star-Club regulars of the 60s.
  • List of the Roadrunners' Cavern Club appearances.
  • Bob Wooler reminisces about the Cavern and the 60s Liverpool scene.
  • Your memories of those Liverpool and Hamburg days.
  • An article (badly translated from the German) about the start of the Star Club.
  • Playbills from those Cavern and Star Club days - a few souvenirs for you to print and enjoy. (And, yes, The Beatles are in there as well!)
  • Sorry, but you can't get into the Cavern without your membership card - so you'd better print it out now!
  • The family tree by Pete Frame.
  • Links to sites about the Liverpool/Hamburg music scene, 60s music in general, mail order stores, etc.

If you want to share your memories of the 60s Liverpool scene or ask a question, please visit the forum by clicking on the left button. Use "back" to return here.
