The Roadrunners

... our links to other 60s stuff

A selection of links to other good 60s music sites - with special emphasis on the Liverpool/Hamburg scenes. Let us know if you should be here, or if any of these links have gone dead. Contact: info@liverpool-roadrunners.org.uk

Our music

Bear Family Records.
Producers of a fabulous 4 CD box set of early Star Club recordings, which includes the Roadrunners' first album. Look for "Die Ariola Star-Club Aufnahmen". Ref: BCD 16226 DK.
Repertoire Records.
A good starting point for recordings by many of the British bands who made it to the Star Club.
Netbeat
A source for the Birmingham R&B Festival album. Use their online search to find "Rock Generation", SPALAXCD 14554.
RED Mail Order.
If you want a vinyl original of any of the Star Club acts, try this German music mail order service run by Rames, who's a really helpful guy. The link takes you to the Star Club page, and you can work your way around from there!

Sites with Roadrunners' connections

Cavern Club
It's been a long time coming, but at last there's a detailed official site about the Cavern. The link takes you to their 60s page.
Hamburg Sites
Glenn Gass of Indiana University has several pics of the Hamburg scene here. Also pics of other sites with Beatles connections.
Hamburg Web
If you want to know anything about Hamburg, start here with the city's very own search engine.
K&K Music Photo Archive
Original pics from the 60s scene - including the Beatles. Also a superb collection of Star Club stuff. Highly recommended.
Liverpool.com
From the Liverpool Post & Echo newspapers, it's a good starting point for contemporary Merseyside stuff and links to some Beatles fan pages.
Star Club
The official home page of the legendary Star Club in Hamburg. Not much about us, but never mind!
Yesterday's Heroes
Our good friend Peter Paezold is building this site which will have info plus items of memorabilia.

Other bands (with emphasis on 60s & Liverpool)

Beatles, Merseybeat & Other Scouse Bands
If you haven't found what you want on our site, this one has links to many Liverpool acts of the past & present.
Beatle Links
Over 700 links to Beatle-related sites. Good interface and search facility to help you find what you want.
The British Beat Boom 1963-66
A very comprehensive fan site whose webmaster would like to receive info on just about every band active in this period. Keep up the good work Alex!
John Cirillo's Rory Storm page
Another fan dedicated to keeping the flame of 60s Liverpool music alive. You'll recollect that Ringo used to play with Rory and... oh, John tells the story much better!
Danny's Brit Oldies
An eclectic RealAudio jukebox of mostly 60s tunes (John Leyton rubs shoulders with the theme from "Z Cars"!). Also more good 60s links.
Delerium's Psychedelic Archive.
Ivor is meticulous in maintaining this massive listing of personnel and tracks from every 60s UK band and solo artist you've (n)ever heard of. You must check this one out.
Legacy Links
"The largest collection of 60s rock & roll sites on the Web." (Look, we get to display an award for saying that, so just pretend it's true, OK?)
Making Time
Dedicated to British beat groups of the 60s. Martin is developing this into something really good.
My Generation
Gary Jackson brings you the latest news on not one... not two... but three bands - the Merseybeats, the Searchers and the Swinging Blue Jeans.
Rickenbacker Guitars
Peter McCormack's unofficial tribute to these legendary instruments and the people who played them. Also some good background on 60s Liverpool.
Sixties Popular Culture
The music, the movies, the people and more. Brought to you by Digger, who doesn't share our affection for monochrome - sunglasses advisable :-)
60s Revival
Another 60s fan site. Webmaster Jonas was kind enough to award us his "recommendation". Thanks, Jonas.
Ultimate Band List
We personally prefer Delerium's interface and search facility (see above). But UBL may be worth a visit.

Other sites for music lovers & webmasters

LP2CD audio restorations
Restorations and transfers to CD of any recordings (LP, 78, 8-tracks, reel to reel). Cristian, the boss man, is another of the good guys on the 'Net.
mPulse
Register your music website and they track the hits and produce a chart, like the album charts. Interesting (if slightly depressing) reading for us!
RealAudio
Free stuff for encoding and playing RealAudio. (If you're not too sure about making RealAudio work, try Jim Hartley's excellent tutorial.
MusicMatch
Get your free .mp3 player right here!
