I rely upon mains electricity, and upon a
motor vehicle. This means I am hooked up
to the oil wells, the refineries, the coal mines,
the nuclear power stations, and so on, just
like most people. Thus I contribute to the
acid rain, the radio active waste, the oil spills,
and all the other havoc that these industries
cause all around the planet.
I regret this. I'm not happy about it. But
considering all the alternative possibilities,
and my particular personal circumstances,
I do not have much choice.
Considering the incredible ingenuity and
inventiveness of humans, it should be
possible, at least theoretically, for us to
provide for our needs in ways which do
not damage the environment, but which
also allow a moderately comfortable
standard of living, but that's a big subject,
and I digress...
