This Way
This Way

Jewel's fourth album (if you include her 1999 Christmas album) was released in North America, Japan and Australia during November 2001 and throughout the rest of the world in early 2002. This Way was co-produced by Jewel with Dann Huff.

Although Jewel claims This Way is raw and unproduced, I think it is by far her most commercial album and has some great pop songs as well as more traditional Jewel acoustic tracks.

Track List
Standing Still, Jesus Loves You, Everybody Needs Someone Sometime, Break Me, Do You Want To Play?, Till We Run Out Of Road, Serve The Ego, This Way, Cleveland, I Wont Walk Away, Love Me Just Leave Me Alone, The New Wild West, Grey Matter, Sometimes It Be That Way
Reviews

Wish Magazine - March 2002 : One of America's most original voices returns with her first studio album in three years. Singer-songwriter Jewel takes us on a tour of Americana, weaving through blues, folk, rock 'n' roll, pop and more than a hefty hunk of country, with confdent ease. Already a massive hit stateside, This Way should do the same this side of the Atlantic. You don't have to be a cowgirl to love this.

J17 - March 2002 : "A collection of beautiful souI-searching songs" (more)

Time Out - 20 February 2002 : "there is no denying the crystal beauty in her voice" (more)

Daily Telegraph - 23 February 2002 : "the first album from Jewel Kilcher in four years is worth the wait" (more)

The Guardian - 22 February 2002 : "the fragile Break Me and This Way are utterly lovely and unleash the best of her crystal voice" (more)

Daily Mail - 22 February 2002 : "Sometimes her wispy soprano is reminiscent of Joni Mitchell's jazzy inflections; elsewhere, she recalls the tantalising tones of Madonna" (more)

UNCUT - February 2002 : "her voice has matured and there are some memorable tunes and catchy hooks" (more)

Q - February 2002 : "an album of tuneful but calculated pop-rock" (more)
