Alaska-born folk-pop diva (and sometime poet) Jewel arrives in England with a full band, as opposed to her early one-woman-and-her-guitar approach to live performance. Although her set contains a brief acoustic interlude, including requests from the audience, the majority is made up of tracks from her second album, Spirit. Feisty and confident live, Jewel indulges in plenty of onstage vamping and builds up a strong rapport with her predominantly female audience through lengthy song introductions and anecdotes. Altogether a more rocking experience than her faintly precious records would suggest. (Two stars)
