Jewel Sparkles
American country-pop sensation Jewel enjoyed a lively end to the millennium. Her
big-screen debut came in December with the premiere of Ang Lee's
Ride With The Devil,
in which she plays the lead female role, while two months earlier she'd performed
at NetAid to promote Higher Ground for Humanity, the organisation co-founded with
mother/manager Lenedra Carroll with a mission to 'inspire positive change on global,
community and individual levels'.
That same month she revisited her roots with legendary songwriter Merle Haggard, the
pair recording two duets: 'Silver Wings' and 'That's The Way Love Goes'. Add a
second book of poetry, scheduled for release by HarperCollins this year in the wake
of the best-selling A Night Without Armor, and you've got one multi-talented lady! MH
